My Really Cool Canadian Overcoat! (1985)

When I was on tour with Amy Grant in 1985, we played in Edmonton, Alberta. During the afternoon before the show, we had a chance to visit the huge mall there. Remember this was 1985. Even then, the mall was so big that some stores had duplicate locations within the same mall! And there were computer screens that would give you walking directions to various stores inside this massive complex. Now that the U.S. dollar is doing so nicely in Canada, I really want to go back there and go on a shopping spree. I bought this 3/4-length wool overcoat (finely crafted in Canada) for $125.00 CAD. I still have this coat, but almost lost it in a bizarre set of circumstances.

A few years back I went on tour with Linda Richards and my good buddy Rob Frazier. At one of the concerts, we were playing in a theatre and I left my coat behind. I kept repeatedly calling the church, the promoter, anyone I could think of. They kept telling me the coat was nowhere to be found. Over a year later, Rob returned to the area to play and someone actually returned the coat after having worn it for that whole year. I still never fully found out what happened, but I was glad to get it back! If coats could talk, I wonder what that thing would tell me!
