Other Bobs:
As a public service to the many Bob Bennetts everywhere (and the people who seek them), we provide the following extremely incomplete list of "other" Bob Bennetts!

TruthOrFiction.com:
From 1987-89 I co-hosted, along with my lifelong friend Dan Rupple, a morning radio talk show on Los Angeles area radio station KBRT. Rich Buhler was the program director and my boss. Along with Bernie Sheahan's succinct suggestion which is quoted in the Scrapbook, Rich gave Dan and me a piece of advice that I have attributed to him and repeated often to others: "Don't do the radio show that you think you ought to do, do the one that is interesting to you ... you're listeners will pick up on that." You can check out more on the site about this talented talk-show host, broadcast journalist, author, teacher and all-around "Renaissance man".

Essentially TruthOrFiction.com is the best internet site to track down what Rich terms "eRumors", virus hoaxes, urban legends and a host of other interesting topics. The other site I enjoy in this genre is Snopes.com. Although Snopes is thorough, they seem to have a little bit of an anti-religious agenda in some of the commentary that accompanies their otherwise fine research. TruthOrFiction.com has no such axe to grind with anyone, although those who deliberately trade in falsehoods and internet scams will not feel particularly welcome here! The site is well organized, has a great search engine and is fair, balanced and well researched.

The next time you get one of those e-mails from some guy who wants you to pony up your money to help him rescue millions of dollars from a bank in Nigeria ... the next time you get a convincing e-mail that has you deleting files from Windows ... the next time you simply don't know whether what you're dealing with is legit or not (expecially in e-mail land), check out TruthOrFiction.com first. They have a modestly priced subscription option if you just love knowing about this stuff right away (I do), but the web site is worth a visit every few days to see what's up. And the Shopping section has some of the classic urban legend books by Dr. Jan Harold Brunvand. Rich has done a fine, fine job here and it's quite clear he's not doing the site he thinks he ought to do ... ! :-)
