Holy Trinity has an Anglican orientation, but their expression of this
feels a little like a hybrid ... a fellowship that is finding its own
form and style. That's NOT bad. But it does mean that some
of the Service resembles a traditional Liturgical service and some of
it feels as though you're still in non-denominational territory.
I'm so pleased to be able to assist and be a part of this New Work in
the community. Todd Hunter is the pastor here. You can
Google him and find out the far-reaching places he's journeyed to in
the Faith ... a very sharp and insightful fellow. I'll be leading
some Congregational singing and, perhaps, a song of my own. It
always changes ... and that's part of the attraction for me. Holy
Trinity is across the street from Rock Harbor (a vibrant,
I-feel-like-an-old-guy church). So while the youngsters are
intoning "Dude, praise the Lord", we'll hearken back to some of the
traditional, some of the modern, even some of the post-modern.
It's less about labels than the flow of joining together, in Spirit,
with ALL of the Church throughout history ,,, being aware and
appreciative of "the Great Cloud of Witnesses" that surrounds us and
has gone before us. Come join us!

First there will be what is called a "Deacon's Service". This is
a gathering where the Eucharist ("Communion" for those who know it only
by that name) is shared with the Congregation, but the Service is
presided over by a Deacon rather than a Priest. Even if this sort of
thing might be outside your comfort zone, I'd encourage you to come to
the Service at 5:00 p.m. anyway and discover (or re-discover) how a
Liturgical form of worship can
be a real blessing. You may find that what was once staid and
unfulfilling at one time may have a life and "aliveness" now that you
could not expect.
St. Matthew's is my Home Church these days. Elena and I love it
here. After the Service, we'll have a short break and then onto a
45-minute concert with yours truly. I'm very excited to be doing
this. Because the Church has an incredible-but-traditional music
format for all Services, musically-speaking I attend Church as a total
civilian. That's fine, trust me. I love just being a part
of the Congregation. But this night I get to "do what I do" and
hope it fits in somehow.

Carl Kikerpill has invited me to do a 45-minute set before this
evening's Divorce Recovery Workshop "Ashes
to Beauty". The evening's theme is "Protecting and Helping
Our Children Through a Divorce". Given my own history related to
this painful subject and the Songs
from Bright Avenue music that came out of that, I hope to be a
blessing to those who may find themselves in the middle or afermath of
a family break-up. At the time this information is being posted,
there's not any mention of the evening on the church's web site ... but
that's not a huge concern. But if you have any questions about
the evening, please e-mail or call as per the contact info above.

My good friend Ron Salsbury has pastored this church for many
years. Ron was one of the early Jesus Music pioneers (click on

So
far,
they've
had
Michael Card
and Randy Stonehill (both
good friends and great musicians), so I'm third in line with this new
series of concerts. I'm told that Frederickburg is one of the
most visited parts of Texas. Lots of things to do and apparently
a ton of bed-and-breakfast places to accommodate the
out-of-towners. Within close driving range of both Austin and San
Antonio. Ya'll come, y'hear. (Like my Texas accent?)
