Photos from Maranatha Chapel

This is my friend Santos. I usually run into him at Maranatha Chapel as he plays with the Worship Team on Wednesday nights. It's always the same. I do a sound check, pick out one song and run through it once with him and then he plays on that tune during my half-hour set. It's really cool and so is he.
Santos made a believer out of me in a way I never expected. 99.9% of the time I hate (and I mean really hate) when someone takes a "secular", non-Gospel song and puts "Christian" lyrics to it. It just makes my skin crawl. I sometimes do it for sport, for a total laugh. (For instance: The Beatles' "Do You Want To Know A Secret" with these opening lyrics ... "Listen / Oo -- ah -- Oo / Do you want to hear a sermon / Oo -- ah -- Oo / Do you want to go to hell) So Santos gives me his CD "Streetcorner Symphony" and I catch on that it's Christian-ized doo-wop. I'm so bummed because I just think the world of him and I'm prepared to really, really dislike the whole thing. So I put I put it on while I'm doing the dishes. That's safe enough, right? In spite of myself, I can't help but have fun with what he did (not "make fun of" fun, but actual fun). You can check out more about Santos as http://www.santosministries.com

On stage at Maranatha Chapel.  They always have me do about a half-hour set between the worship time and the Bible study.  If you visit them http://www.maranathachapel.org, they archive their webcasts.  They usually are up for a month or so until they are displaced by the newer postings.

Here I am caught in one of my rare vanity moments.
It's a little know fact outside most Assembly of God churches (and, of course, the interesting folks on TBN) that the actual "bigness" and perfection of one's hair-do is directly proportionate to the amount of anointing a speaker or singer has.  And so, while I've still got some hair to adjust for the sake of the Kingdom, I do my best!

A couple photos snapped at the Merchandise Table ... er, uh, I mean the Ministry Resource Table!
