Cover art from SONGS FROM BRIGHT
AVENUE (1991) Art Direction: Buddy Jackson Photography: Mark Tucker
This photo
was taken in a house in Nashville, which was being renovated by art director
Buddy Jackson. Photography by Mark Tucker (who also did the “big Bob face” for
LORD OF THE PAST: A COMPILATION. The way this was done is the Mark had me sit
still for about 90 seconds or more. He adjusted the camera shutter to remain
open for that time and then Mark ran through the field of the photo with a
hand-held light. All of the little pathways of light that appear in the photo
are places where Mark “painted” with the light. The camera could not pick him up
but it did “see” the light he was painting as well as the stationary objects
such as yours truly. The photo was shot in black and white and then the color
was hand tinted later. So, to answer the unspoken question ... no, I do not own
a pair of pink pants! |
